The Wilson Pickers formed after a crazy idea of uniting some Queenslanders with some Victorians in the vague hope of forming a bluegrass-style band. They play banjo, fiddle, harmonica and acoustic guitar-based songs that draw on bluegrass, folk, country and lots of other things. Think bluegrass music meets The Beach Boys styled harmonies.
But what started out as some fun, found The Wilson Pickers' debut Land Of The Powerful Owl snagging the lads an ARIA Award nomination for Best Blues & Roots Album in 2009, and a mass of critical acclaim.
By the time BIGSOUND arrives, The Wilson Pickers sophomore release 'Shake It Down', will be firmly in the hands of many a music lover, and will set the scene for another great year for The Wilson Pickers.
